What is your favourite Pokemon?

3d 23h ago by sopuli.xyz/u/sbeak in asklemmy

Personally, mine is joint first between Sandshrew (the cutest), Espurr (most relatable), and Gastrodon.

After those, in no particular order, I like Turtwig (best starter, fight me), the Roggenrola line (little rock guys), the Litwick line (candles and lamps with nefarious intentions), and Metagross (cool robot thing).

Kyogre is the best legendary in my opinion

Scizor! It’s annoying have a trade mon as your favorite. A lot of the games don’t give you a metal coat until late game too. What can you do

Scizor is a really interesting pokemon, and a much needed evolution to Scyther (I think they have similar stats but the better typing with Bug/Steel makes it more viable)

Steelix is also another awesome trade mon, it's pretty much just a better version of Onix in every way. In later gens it also has a really cool mega!

Dragonite -- I love his derpy little wings.

Dragonite is indeed very cute

I was talking to someone a month ago about this. I told them as a kid my favorite pokemon was charizard and as I got older it switched to dragonite. They said to me "so you really have a type huh?" I didn't understand until I thought about it and realized charizard and dragonite share a lot of similarities. The former being edgier and the latter being cuter.

So apparently I really like large, orange dragons.

Snorlax is my spirit animal

My favorite starter is Totodile. My favorite Eeveelution is Vaporeon (Espeon is a close second).

But overall, my favorite is Snorlax.

Gyarados normal, Suicune legendary, Bulbysaur starter

You went straight from Blue to Crystal, didn't you?

Suicune is the best dog legendary

Best legendary, but I'll hear arguments

Always been an Arbok fan. Sure, Gen 1 he dies to Psychic really easy, but especially as we get into Gen 3/4 and you get stuff like Fire/Ice/Thunder Fang TMs as well as decent Dark moves to teach it, it becomes a nasty piece of work with some support. Plus, it gets Intimidate and I love Intimidate as an ability.

Gen 1, everything dies to Psychic.

Not Dragonite, but dragon type was even more broken than Psychic

Until you meet Lorelei.

Psyduck and Gengar

Good picks! After Sandshrew, Psyduck is definitely one of my favourites Kanto mons. Gengar is also high up there!

Poliwhirl

Butterfree, because I once beat a friend's Mewtwo with it on Soul Silver.

Pikachu, because it's so cute.

Bug types being super effective on Psychic types is always so funny to me.

I have big brain and move big things with mind, but a bug bite, it scares me.

Yeah, but the important detail in this case, was Butterfree's base stats vs. Mewtwo's and the fact that I hit it with a successful sleep powder and it was fast asleep for so long, that I managed to kill it with dream eater. 👻

I believe the reasoning for the weaknesses of Psychic type are based on different phobias (scared of the dark, bugs, and ghosts). Also, it makes bug types just that little bit stronger which is nice!

Anyone who didn't say Totodile is deserving of a chomp on the ass from a Totodile.

Gardevoir It was my first shiney and carried me through Pearl. Plus I like the idea of powerful psychics and loyalty to your friends.

Vaporeon

Listen, friend, I was an adult before Pokémon was even a thing. Your Pokeymans are irrelevant to me, child. Irrelevant.

So why do I recognise most of gen 1 and a handful of others besides?!

TL;DR: Psyduck

Arcanine. I like dogs and the design is really cool looking. Too bad its only an ok pokemon stats wise haha.

Metagross. He's hits like a genius freight train.

also one of my faves, but wish I could sit on him:

Meowth. A cat that shits money out his face? Hell yes.

I absolutely vibe with mareep.

In Red/Blue I liked Abra>Kadabra>Alakazam and Gengar.

As for cuteness, I can't say no to Jigglypuff.

Swampert! For a non-starter, probably Tropius or Stonjourner.

Dragonite

Snorlax, dude wakes up just to kick your ass then goes back to sleep.

Nidoqueen but only because the in-game trade in the original games is named TERRY.

When I battled a friend a few years ago after using her we laughed for awhile about the name. It became a meme between friends, and for that reason she's my favorite.

Basculin is my favourite by far

hard to pick just one. Flareon just barely eekes it out to the top but it has the unfair advantage of being my first starter, from Gale of Darkness on GCN. my fantasy team would be

Flareon Swampert Decidyueye Gallade Drampa or Altaria Alolan Dugtrio or Clodesire

Trubbish.

He's just a derpy lil bag of trash.

I do not like his evolution, though.

Cofagrigus is my son

A ghost Pokémon in the shape of a Sarcophagus

My favorites are Torchic and Blaziken. Pokemon Saphire was one of the first video games I ever purchased, and he stuck with me through a lot.

I hate how TPC has repeatedly done the evo line dirty by overriding them with multiple fire/fighting type starters with higher stats

Mega Lucario would be my pick, followed by Xerneas.

I hate those questions because I don't know the english name >:(
And I want to know which pokemon we are talking about!

Anyway :p
HGSS was my first pokemon game and Typhlosion was my first starter of which I also cleared the pkmn league.

Other favorites (all how they look)

  • Lugia
  • Dialga
  • Empoleon
  • Giratina
  • Gastly and all evolutions
  • Ditto
  • Mew
(My lock screen is a variant of mew called Thunder-Mew)

Piplup for its cuteness. I also like its evolutions.

I also really love Bulbasaur and its evolution line. That was my starter back on Blue on the Gameboy. Venusaur with Leech Seed then whipped everything into submission pretty much. Tanked like a mofo!

Design-wise? Banette. The creepy doll is just such a gorgeous image.

In my heart? The goofy gang boss Honchcrow.

I do agree Gastrodon is cool.

I like this supermodel insect from another dimension too.

Probably Jigglypuff. It can learn all the attacks and evolves right away and was always fun to down air into down B combo on smash bros 64.

Charmander, Mimikyu, and Haunter.

Jolteon.

Haunter is my original favorite but of all the Pokemon I've seen it's gotta be a toss up between Lampent, Sinistea, and gimmighoul.

If you can't tell, ghost type is my thing.

Ghost types are quite neat. I have found that the majority of my favourites turn out to be rock, ground, and steel types. I like big rocky and metal things!

My personal favourite ghost-type line has to be Litwick -> Chandelure.

Nice to see some Haunter love. Such a cool design.

Ursaring. I had one that would basically one hit everything.

Crobat, my beloved. Where hast my 6 foot, 4 winged bat gone? What forces of evil have possessed GameFreak to keep me from you? Can they not see the bonds of friendship that keep me coming back to you? Dost they not know thou art perfect? Your soft purple fur, your unique typing, your winning personality? Fear not, my love. For I know that one day, you and I will be reunited! I will once again fly on your back to the Pokémon league, whereupon I will thrash the Elite Four with your STAB Cross Poison! Till then, my lavender cutie, rest your mighty wings, sweet cherub. Our time will come again.

mega kangkaskhan pre-nerf console.

Annihilape, I always loved Mankey and Primape, and Fighting/Ghost type was something I had wanted for a long time. It was so pissed it died and then so pissed that it came back. That’s fucking rad. The signature move is also fucking busted.

Annihilape was definitely one of the better new evolutions for old mons! Steelix and Scizor are also great new evolutions that I personally like

It took soooo long, too! The line was aching for a third evolution since the first gen, but at least when it came it was an S tier. Scizor is for sure in my top five, been a favorite since it first showed up. Technician Scizor with bullet punch fucking cleans up and looks cool doing it.

From the first game boy games I rolled a lot with Charichard and Nidoking, then did not play untill like a few years back and ran into Grimmsnarl and that is my favourite of the new ones.

Back when I was really into Pokemon I liked Dewott. After not playing Pokemon for several years, I think Pikachu became my favorite; it's really the only pokemon you get exposed to if you don't play the games and the design is very iconic.
About a year ago I played Cobblemon (Minecraft Pokemon) and Joltik / Galvantula became my new favorite. 🕷️

Perhaps I'm biased, but I'm fond of the Sawsbucks.

You're biased. But that's okay!

Woohoo! My racism has been validated by the Internet! :)

I'm The Internet!? News to me! But again, I don't think liking deer (or even being obsessed with them) is racism... But what do I know? Cheers!

I haven't played since Emerald, but it's Squirtle always and forever.

Snom, Lokix, Typhlosion.

Probably a bit basic but Charizard and Umbreon. I like ditto and wooper too! Though my favourite starter is either totodile or cyndaquil depending on the day lol.

Wooper is such a vibe

Druddigon my beloved

Nidorina.

It’s one of the first Pokémon in gen 1 that isn’t recognisable as another creature. It feels like the first ‘monster’ you really run into.

I also caught one early in my first playthrough, and didn't find out about the moon stone evo until very late game. I just thought that Nidorina was the final form. By the time I learnt, I was kind of attached to the middle form.

The Nidoran families are really cool! I personally really like Nidoking, since I used it in both my gen 1 playthroughs (leaf green and Let's Go Pikachu).

A level 100 Bidoof (not evolved). It looks cutesy, but is a one-hit-kill machine. Beware the Bidoofinator.

BIDOOF!

Eevee > Glaceon and Sylveon, Charcadet > Armarouge and Ceruledge, and I also like Genesect.

I think it's fair to pick a few with how many there are now.

Also, comment on my tier lists of Pokemon from generations up to Galar (excluding Gen 7 / Alola, but know that Meltan is one of my favourites from there)

Kanto

I made this a while back, and just realised I placed Poliwhirl way below Poliwag and Poliwrath! The three should be together in the "awesome" tier!

I might have also been slightly harsh on Charmeleon...

Parasect is amazing! I don't know if we can be friends...

I just don't like that the mushroom has taken over little Paras, it should have been Paras being strong and resisting the mushroom!

Pokemon within each tier is in no particular order (at least, regarding which I like better or worse). Being at the beginning just means that they were categorised the earliest (so there is a sort of order, the ones at the end were usually the ones that I struggled to decide on, but that's not always the case. Also, I went through them through their Pokedex numbers, so you will see that too)

Wow, you’ve really given this a lot of thought.

Unova

Galar

Johto

Kalos

Floette is a favourite while Florges is placed much lower as I think that going from Flabebe (little fairy thing in a flower) to Floette (fairy thing is big and holding the flower now) is much better than the final evolution to Florges, oh no Floette is now the flower. In my eyes, the final evolution should have been either Floette now holding a much larger flower due to increased power or simply ending at Floette, giving a two-stage evolution line (possible with stat buffs to Floette).

There's a reason why there's Mega Floette and no Mega Florges, Floette's design is much more iconic.

Sinnoh
