Roman Emperors and their marital interests

Explanation: Roman Emperors could be quite... interesting in their diversity of views on marriage.

Marcus Aurelius, a Stoic philosopher, valued austerity and simplicity in life.

Caracalla, an infamously brutal and violent Emperor who was obsessed with Alexander the Great, had an arranged marriage, but exiled and killed his wife the first chance he got, never remarrying.

Elagabalus, a teenage Emperor who was notable for their (as their gender identity is a subject of constant historical debate) many violations of Roman taboo, married a male slave who was a chariot driver. Elagabalus was said to let their husband catch them cheating for the purpose that their husband would then beat them, which Elagabalus considered positively.
