Can Psychedelic Experiences Really Improve Your Mental Health?

Ayahuasca helped me quit drinking. I was drinking 12-15 40ml servings of liquor per night for about 10 years. Tried to quit 4 times on my own, but always wound up giving in to the cravings again. I could feel death approaching, and decided to try Ayahuasca as a last ditch effort in 2022. I’ve been sober ever since, without even the slightest desire to drink. I also started a daily meditation practice, stopped prioritizing money over people, and stopped eating meat.
It completely changed my life, to put it mildly.
LSD is known to have the same effect.
Shrooms don't. :(
Yea with a larger chance of a bad trip.
Intention, time, set, and setting have everything to do with that.
It's like most anything else in life; If you fail to plan, plan to fail.
Sure, but those who focus on pretense are not going to learn from it.
I don't agree, at least on principle. Especially when such drugs are included. Pretense tends to melt away into motivating force, which may or may not be the driving mechanism behind someone's behavior. With a strong enough psychedelic, even the densist dummy can begin to question why they do things.
Maybe, but I look at some people who come from affluence and they may use things regularly and still do not achieve transformation. It's mostly those kinds of people that I'm referring to.
Well just because they question why doesn't mean an affluent person will arrive at an answer more than, "because I can".
What even was this article about? It reads like it is building up to something but then fails to deliver.
Studies conclude that set and setting is key in psychedelic therapy. So yes, priming is crucial and success depends on a lot of factors. But we already knew this. No one serious suggests psychedelics always work and always create a mystical experience in which all problems are solved.
This article does not add any more info on the question in the title "Can Psychedelic Experiences Really Improve Your Mental Health?". That's just clickbait.
Shrooms really helped me see the path to shedding my depression and anxiety.
Still not perfect, but it's a huge improvement.
The horrors persist, but so do I.
