For real, do you want to be on the hook for trying to save the dictator? Let's say you do save him and him and his regime go on to kill more and destroy society. The guilt normal people would feel would be astronomical. On the other hand, let's say you take your oath to heart and do everything to save him, and he still dies. His cult would make your life a living hell. Then there's pulling a Hide from The Office or Chase from House. The latter point still stands. There is no winning from helping him.
It's like Stalin's doctors all being to scared to help him because if they fucked up and he still lived they'd get purged.
What kind of ugly are we talkin' here? The kind that you inherit or the kind you choose to be?
IMO, it really is what's on the inside that counts. Doubly so, in this case.
