Also, they're the legislative branch. Why don't they just create a law to prohibit sexual deepfakes and assess penalties from the companies with tolerance/ambivalence/apathy toward sexual deepfakes?
That would require them to actually do their fucking jobs. Congress nowadays just takes orders from the dictator in office.

I don’t have faith that such a law could get passed in a timely manner, if at all, with the current leadership. Especially if it would basically single out two of their biggest darlings- AI and Elon.
