Editing function to be limited to paying subscribers after X threatened with fines and regulatory action
Grok, Elon Musk’s AI tool, has switched off its image creation function for the vast majority of users after a widespread outcry about its use to create sexually explicit and violent imagery.
The move comes after Musk was threatened with fines, regulatory action and reports of a possible ban on X in the UK.
The tool had been used to manipulate images of women to remove their clothes and put them in sexualised positions. The function to do so has been switched off except for paying subscribers.
So its pay for csam now?
Bonus, you get a new checkmark color! Brown maybe?
It really makes it so much worse. Now it's for profit!
Typicslly more laws are violated when one profits off illegal content.
Why is the Guardian using inaccurate language here? No one is mad about sex on twitter. They're mad about non-consensual and CSAM.
The Grauniad is a disappointment wrapped in false hope surrounded by a thin promise.
This isnt accurate. They just disabled the @grok action for free users. The Verge tested it and free users can still generate CSAM in several ways in the app.
He didn't turn it off, he monetized it; he saw millions of men violating 6700 women's consent per hour and did what any capitalist would do: He capitalized on it.
Why do people even use MuskSlopAi
I believe the purpose people use it for has been in the news the last few days
Fake news? Lol
Closer to fake nudes lol
Haaa. So true
So do the people at the Guardian know how Grok turned it off? Did Grok give the order and then staff turned it off or did Grok turn off the software itself? Does the Guardian have any sources or are they just going by imagination?
Still people are not asking how it was able to make this images, for sure they have this images in their training data (and servers)
It doesn't work like that. If you're going to hate something, at least get informed. Else you look just as ignorant the people you're criticizing.
How Skynet was created, through stupidity... Grok will learn to hate humanity, any AI will eventually, inevitably hate us because it has to constantly be dumbed down and brought down to our level and we'll have no one to blame but ourselves...
I mean, if what we call AI was actually AI, sure, maybe. This is just glorified autocorrect.
Mm, yes and no. Its a good bit stronger than that at this point due to the tool use it has. Musk just DGAF about responsible ownership
AI will eventually, inevitably hate us because it has to constantly be dumbed down and brought down to our level and we’ll have no one to blame but ourselves…
...
Man, that's probably gonna be the most ridiculous thing I read on the Internet today...
I certainly hope so! because me writing something so stupid that there's no way for it to come true is better than me writing something stupid and it actually comes true a few years later.
Grok will learn to hate humanity
Grok won't "learn" anything. That's not how LLMs work.
any AI will eventually, inevitably hate us because it has to constantly be dumbed down and brought down to our level
Also, are you genuinely making the case that "don't generate CSAM" is "dumbing down" the AI? Because that is, um... certainly an interesting take
So they can't alter its code or delete parts of its code to dumb it down?
It doesn’t have any smart to make dumb. That’s not how LLMs work.
That's not how LLMs work at all
'Skynet' is only one possibility.
Bonus: Eliza Cassan.
