Places to test APKs to see if they're really from the app I wanna download?
2d 23m ago by lemmy.world/u/MeowerMisfit817 in asklemmy@lemmy.mlI downloaded a APK from ApkCore and now I wanna text it before putting it on archive.org. I tested places like MyAndroid and some others, but the emulators will always stop mid download before I can even run the APKs.
If you tried BlueStacks and androidstudio and those don't work, and you don't have access to an old android device, then you could try something like BrowserStack - I've occasionally used them to test websites in specific combinations of OS and browser version on supposedly real devices. They have an option to test android apps, and you may be able to transfer your apk or paste in a share link to try it out there.
I think they give you 30 minutes free, but I haven't tried the app testing (since I'm a web dev) so idk if it would be excluded from the sign up bonus. The price for a single freelancer is $19 month to month.
The safest way would be to get AppVerifier and check the original developer's signature
Android emulator on your computer?
No, on a phone. As I said (I think I said, sorry if I didn't) on the post, I wanna test an APK file before putting it on archive.org
Check if it's signed with the developer signature, that's the only way to verify authenticity
Create a separate User, on your phone, only for testing things out.
