TIL Jan. 7 marks Christmas for many Orthodox Christians; about 12% of Christians worldwide identify as Orthodox

Not all orthodox. There's two orthodox churches actually. There's the greek orthodox church that uses the gregorian calendar and marks Christmas same as the catholics and the russian orthodox, who use the julian calendar which has 7 jan. Greek orthodox countries are greece, romania, bulgaria and now ukraine for example.

Nothing about this is surprising to me…

EXCEPT WTF, ETHIOPIA IS ALL ORTHODOX?????

Ethiopian Orthodoxy stems from the Coptic Church of Egypt, making it one of the oldest continuous branches of Christianity that still exists.
