Galaxy S26 Ultra leak gives glimpse at new Privacy Display feature in action

Didn't we just spend decades complaining about viewing angles?

Yes, this is a nothing burger because hard to innovate a rectangular slab phone and allows some marketing bullshit about privacy.

Ignore the spyware the phone actually comes with

love how people who willingly put all of their life on the internet for everyone to see, "I have nothing to hide", dont care about privacy for themselves or the people in their life are so concerned about shoulder surfers. LIKE LITERALLY JUST LOOK BEHIND YOU FOR FUCK SAKE

Been wanting this feature for the better part of a decade.

Im pretty sure my friend had a screen protector capable of this more than a decade ago, but I am curious how they're able to implement this in software rather than some physical method.

I'm assuming it simply darkens the screen when it's not directly facing you:

I'd hope it's more that that because this wouldn't give you any "privacy" as someone next to you could read it if you were actively using the device. The old screen protectors had little ridges that blocked the light from escaping to the side so you could only see it straight on.

Maybe its similar to amd where it uses the camera to see where your eye is looking and only display that area?
